criteria for sports hall of fame
Individual:
10 years removed from South High School
All-Ohio (1st, 2nd, 3rd team)—Automatic induction
Individual State Champion – Automatic induction
Individual State Qualifier – Automatic Induction
Conference MVP
News-Herald or Plain Dealer “Player of the Year”
Multiple first-team all-conference honor in same sport or in different sports the same year the athlete participated
Coaches – 10 years removed from South and demonstrated a positive influence on student athletes during their tenure.

One boys team that won a regional, or district championship recognized by the OHSAA. Only one team can be inducted annually
One girls team that won a regional, or district championship recognized by the OHSAA. Only one team can be inducted annually
Team Induction may also be considered at the discretion of the Hall of Fame Committee

Banquet coordinator—tickets, hall, plates, menu
Media coordinator—collects the nominees’ data from committee members; assembles the ceremony program, writes honorees’ bio for program and game night event; emcees the game night event

Committee members may submit nominees from each sport to be considered utilizing the above criteria. More than one athlete from the same sport can be nominated but only one will be selected. Outside nominations utilizing the approved application form will be considered annually. Candidates not chosen will automatically have their application retained for consideration for a three-year period.

20 years removed from South High School
Played at least one (1) sport while attending South High School
Outstanding/Significant contribution or dedication to a sport
Exceptional conduct on and off the court/field
Distinguished or long-term involvement in a sport
Extensive Leadership (coach or administrator)
Excelled in a nationally or internationally recognized sport after high school
Does NOT have to be a sport played while at South
Examples:
Member of Olympic Team (U.S. or other)
Collegiate National Champion
Professional (MLB, NFL, NBA…) player for 10+ years
